I'm a life long resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and have made a career out of my passion for the outdoors. Since 1986, I've made my living writing and talking about fishing, hunting, camping, outdoor tourism and resource conservation. My weekly newspaper column Sporting Life and features have appeared in the Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal every Saturday since 1990.

Somehow during that time, I've managed to write roughly a thousand magazine, book and newspaper articles for a range of diverse publications including In Fisherman, Minnesota Outdoor News, Readers Digest and the Financial Post.

I'm the fishing editor of Ontario Out of Doors Magazine (a job I love) and am a regular on CBC radio in Northwestern Ontario. The Thursday outdoor column with Lisa Laco on CBC's the Great Northwest is one of the highlights of my week.

Over the years I've been interviewed by many radio and television personalities about the outdoors, including the late Peter Gzowski, of CBC's Morningside. I'm a member of the Outdoor Writers of Canada and America and have won (as of 2005) 15 national writing awards. I've also received special recognition from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources for educating and informing people about the outdoors.

I have two boys Devin and Austin, with my wife Cheryl. They are all keen outdoors people and frequently out-fish me.
